November Update from The CountryQuilter!

I think that we are all getting accustomed to wearing a mask and spending more time at home. We have had several mask making demos and have ready made masks for sale. These masks are made with 2 layers of 100% cotton fabric, with a filter layer.

We are using the interfacing that Dr Tam recommended when suggesting using a filter layer in masks. There are lots of fun fabrics to use for masks. Seasonal fabrics, and fun novelty prints like sloths, sports themed, and animal prints are popular. There is lots of ¼ inch elastic in stock.

Are you making lap quilts to keep your family and friends cozy this winter? A good book, a bottle of wine or some special tea to go along with the quilt make a very special gift. It is amazing what you can do with your stash fabrics. We have plenty of batting in stock and new 108” backing fabrics are due in any day. If you are planning to have your top longarm quilted, time is running out. Get your name on Sarah Jane’s list if that is your plan. sarah@heritageart.ca

We are having demos for the ‘ten-minute table runner’ on Dec 2 at either 9:30 or 11am. The class is limited to 4, so that you can safely distance. These runners will give your décor a new look for winter. They are also impressive gifts. Just add coffee, jam, roasted nuts, or special cheese for a lovely gift.

The shop continues to be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9am – 1pm. If you want batting cut, call ahead and we will have it ready for pick up. Please be aware that we have to limit customers to 4 at a time in the shop.

As is our custom, we will be closed Dec. 19 at 1pm until Jan 5th at 9am. Make sure that you have all the supplies you need! Gift certificates are available for your Santa to pick up or we will mail them. Just call 613 838 5541 for details.

Holiday Snack Mix:
Preheat the oven to 350.
Combine: 3 tbsp melted, unsalted butter, 3 tbsp maple syrup, 1tsp salt, 1tsp ground ginger, stir to mix.
Add 1 cup of roasted, unsalted peanuts, 1 cup pecans, almonds or cashews. (If you avoid peanuts use any combination of nuts) Stir to coat with the syrup. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and roast about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the nuts are roasted. Cool on the pan. Fill a jar with these nuts and include with a table runner as a perfect gift!
