October, 2021 at The Country Quilter
It is good to have people once again coming to the classroom. Class size is limited, participants must be double vaccinated, and wear a mask.
The shop will be closed on Saturday, October 9 for the Thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy getting together with family this year.
The shop continues with the same hours during October. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 10:00 to 1:00 pm. The shop will also be open on other days when there are classes. (Knotty Girls and Landscape this month.)
Tuesday Mornings are for working on your own projects and sharing ideas. Show and Tell is always fun. Most people bring along hand work projects to work on.
Knotty Girls are meeting on the second Friday of the month. Lynne has some fun new patterns and projects to share. Her mini tree ornaments are really special. New members are welcome to join this stitching group.
The next Landscape Class is Thursday, October 21. The teaching class for new students is in the morning, starting at 9:30 and finishing at 12:30 pm. The Alumni members will meet from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Those returning are encouraged to bring Show and Tell.
The Machine Quilting Class is suitable for beginners. Instruction in this class will help you to learn how to successfully quilt smaller projects on your own machine. The use of threads, needles, and other helpful accessories will be covered. There are two sessions Saturday, October 23, from 10:00 to 1:00 pm and Saturday, November 6, at the same time. This gives time to practise between classes.
Wool Applique will convene on Wednesday, October27, from 10:00 to 12:30 pm. Bring along the projects you completed during the lockdowns as well as your current work.
The supply of Touch Quilts needs to be replenished. These special quilts help to calm those with dementia. We provide them to several local long-term care centres as well as to the emergency units at local hospitals. It is not necessary to be a quilter to help with this project. All materials are provided, just bring your machine, scissors, thread and pins and a willingness to help make these quilts. The next workshop is Wednesday, November 3, from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.
Suppliers have been having a difficult time getting and keeping inventory in stock during the lockdowns and border closures. We appreciate your patience. Hopefully this will improve.
