July at The Country Quilter!

The Garden Quilt Show, June 18, was a wonderful display of talent and creativity. There were quilts finished during the COVID lockdowns, lots made from stashes, quilts from classes and wool applique. This year we were joined by two talented partners of quilters, who displayed their creativity with wood.

The book sale raised over $500.00 which will be donated to CANHAVE to pay school fees for a child to attend classes. The African themed quilts made and donated by Grace and Wilma Whiting, and Peggy Roe will be on display in the shop until September.

Viewers choice winners at the show were Lynne Rochette and Jane Roszell. Photos can be seen on this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ai6ofevaqJsFT2SB6. Congratulations to them!

Thanks to those who donated food items and cash to The Richmond Food Bank. These donations will help over the summer.

During July and August, we will continue with shortened hours. Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 10:00 – 1:00. We will be closed the Saturdays of the long weekends. As there is a class on Friday July 8th, we will be open and feature a two-day sale! It will continue on July 9!! Check out what wide backings you may need for your next project.

Classes being offered in July include a new Modern Scrap quilt class on Wednesday, July 27. This is a good summer project to use up more scraps and ‘to make something from nothing’.

The Finishing Touch, Saturday, July 16 will review all the tricks and tips for finishing your quilt. It will cover how to square up your quilt (any size), how to choose a binding, piping, or a facing, the way to apply a sleeve, and other questions or problems you might have. You may bring unfinished projects for advice.

The Lunch and Learn class on Wednesday, July 20 will be a fun day. Lynne Rochette will be choosing the project for this class.

The monthly classes continue during the summer. Knotty Girls, Wool Applique, Gnomes and of course Finishing School each Tuesday.
