Congratulations to Penny Miller, winner of the lap size African quilt!

A perfect fall day set the scene for the Art of Fabric Show and Sale at The Country Quilter last Saturday. There were amazing art quilts on display, 70 of these were for sale. You can see some of them on our web site. www.thecountryquilter.ca
The shop will be closed Saturday, October 8th for Thanksgiving weekend, enjoy!
There will be another two-day sewing retreat on October 11th and 12th. Bring your project on Tuesday, and leave it set up and ready to go on Wednesday. A soup lunch is included. This is a fun way to sew with friends.
Knotty Girls meet on October14th. Wool Applique is on the 19th when there will be supplies and patterns for sale. The Applique Gnomes class is on the 22nd.
Learn the technique for making Stain Glass Quilting with Marilyn on October 25th.
Jane will have a two-day workshop for Touch Quilts on Wednesday, October 26th, from 12:00 to 3:00 and October 27th, from 10:00 to 1:00. All the supplies are provided, just bring your machine to help out with this project. There is a focus on quilts for handicapped young people in this workshop as there has been a request for 100 of these type of quilts. A small donation of your time will make a big difference.

As fall comes there are lots of new events happening at The Country Quilter!
September 24 will be our first Art of Fabric Show and Sale. This show will feature less traditional, original works of art. You are invited to come and enjoy the show 10:30 – 2:00 at The Country Quilter, admission is free. It is also an opportunity for you to purchase an original piece of art.
The shop will be open longer hours starting September 6, open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9:30 – 2:00.

Gnomes September 10, 10:00 – 12:00
Wool Applique September 21, 10:00 – 12:00.
Finishing School: Each Tuesday, 9:30 – 12:00, is an open day for you to come and work on your projects with other quilters. There is lots of advice available!
New Events include:
Tuesday September 13 & 14 are Sew Days when you can come and sew with friends. Leave your project overnight so you are ready to start in the morning. This would be an opportunity to finish up your summer challenge for the Guild!
Tuesday, September 20, 10:00 – 12:00 a Paper Piecing table or bed runner (or quilt) class begins. Check out the star pattern. It would make a unique Christmas runner.
Friday, September 30, 10:00-12:00. Jane has designed an original hanging for her next crumb class. It uses up your small scraps for the background and features the Peace tower and a fall maple leaf. She is calling it a Crumbie Maple Leaf!!
If you have created so many projects over the past few years that you are running out of storage space, and you are interested in showing or selling your creative fabric art pieces, this is an opportunity not to be missed! If you wish, you can also advertise your teaching skills based on the techniques used in making your fabric art.

Hopefully the beautiful quilt is a good sign for Diana’s future in Canada.
The Country Quilter will be closed the last week of August for inventory. The shop will reopen Sept 6th.
What a beautiful summer we have been enjoying, hopefully you have had time to
relax and enjoy it.
Classes continue in August:
Finishing School drop in on Tuesdays, bring along your project and enjoy a
morning with fellow quilters.
Knotty Girls on Aug. 12, 10 – 12
The next Gnome will be available Aug 13, 10:30 – 12:30
Wool applique meeting is Aug. 17, 10 -12
Join a Sew Day on Aug 23, 10 – 2. This would be a good time to work on your quilt
for the Guild Challenge. Time is going quickly, the deadline for this challenge is
September 21.
Lunch and Learn is Aug 24, 10 – 1. A fun small project with Lynne followed by a
light lunch.
There is a pre inventory sale on Friday Aug 12 and Sat Aug 13. This would be a
perfect time to get your supplies for fall projects.
As usual the shop will be closed the last week of August for inventory and staff
time off. Open again Tuesday September 6.
We are introducing a new event on Saturday Sept. 24. The Art of Fabric will be a
show and sale of fabric art. Information is included with this newsletter. We hope
that it will provide a time for you to show and sell, if you wish, some of your less
traditional fabric art. Please consider entering your art to make this another great
show of artistic talents.
